Swim Team Meeting Follow Up

Yo Sharks Fam!

It was great to see those of you who came out to the meeting last week. We know its hard this time of year to fit that kind of meeting into an already crazy schedule we are grateful to all of you who came out.

For those who couldn't make it out to the meeting, here is a recap of the "business" that was covered and some news that will help everyone understand how our team's organized activities will look going forward.

  • We are having a "Swimsgiving" celebration at the Willow Oak Clubhouse on November 12th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. This will be a potluck style event where we all bring our favorite dishes to share and hang out together during the Thanksgiving season. Look for a flier for this coming your way soon, but for now, make sure you put it on your calendar!
  • Swim team committee meetings will be held once per month all year round. This is a break away from the 5 month meeting schedule that has been used that normally starts in January and ends around the end of May. This new cadence and year round schedule will help the committee members stay on top of things while not forcing a lot of work into the shorter time span of 5 months.
  • Swim Team fund raising will be a big part of the this upcoming season. When the schedule and events for the fund raising initiatives are established we will communicate them to you. Look for those in the next month or so.
  • This coming spring we will be having training sessions for families looking to be armed with a more comprehensive understanding of how volunteer roles work. This will give our parents the chance to hear in detail what each position is, its place in the broader scheme of the swim meet and have a greater understanding of time commitments. Look for this to take place closer to the start of the season.
  • We are expanding our Swim Team Committee from 3 positions to 5. This will help even out the work load and give committee members the ability have greater focus on their are of responsibility. The new positions being added are Technology Administrator and Facilities Administrator.
  • As was mentioned in a previous communication, I am still looking for a few more people to help film and create a new swim team "commercial" or promo hype video that will be distributed among the neighborhood. If you or your swimmers are willing to answer a few quick questions, please let me know and I'll get time set up with you to film that.

That's it for the recap. If you have any questions, comments suggestions for the upcoming planning season, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

All the best!

Jake Brown
